How to identify a Camel Cricket / Cave Cricket / Spider Cricket

  • Light to dark brown, often mottled with dark bands on some segments.
  • Humpbacked with long, very enlarged hind legs
  • ½”- 1 ½” (13-33 mm)
  • Found in areas like caves, damp, cool basements, and crawl space as well as under leaves and logs outdoors.
  • Will jump in response to being threatened.
  • Quite common all throughout the US and inside homes

Control of these crickets starts with eliminating moisture and harborage areas around the home. Once indoors it is difficult to eradicate, pest control treatments to basements, garages and crawl spaces is required as well as exterior perimeter application to prevent future infestations.
