What You Can Do to Reduce Pest Pressure

Did you know that there are many aspects to the landscape around your home that can be harboring or causing pest control problems? In the industry we call these “Conducive Conditions”. Some are structural and most likely came with your home, like railroad tie walls or ground level decking. Others can be easily removed and corrected. Removing or reducing conducive conditions around your home can be the first step to eliminating pest problems in your home.

Wood-to-ground contact is a siren song for termites and can be a haven for Carpenter Ants. Getting wood piles even just a few inches off the ground can help stop these wood destroying insects from getting too close for comfort. But its best to keep them not only off the soil, but as far from your home as possible. Always make sure to keep wood high and dry.

Ground covering plants and leaf litter can hold moisture in the area. They also make a great hiding spot for insects and mice to escape predators. Clearing up fallen leaves and pine needles makes the areas around your home a less pleasant place for bugs and rodents to be.

There are many other conditions that can cause issues in and around your home. The first step in all our services is an inspection of the property and an investigation of any current issues. We always make sure to let our customers know what they can do hand in hand with our treatments to end all pest issues that could be affecting their home.
