The Termite Control Process and Options

Most often termites go unnoticed and aren’t found until damage has already been done. Termites are frequently found infesting homes and buildings, creating major problems for homeowners and tenants by actively feeding on timber structures like: homes, buildings, telephone poles, and trees. They will feed on almost anything made of wood.

A subterranean termite colony lives deep underground and surfaces in search of food. Within a colony of termites, you’ll find members of different social classes, each with a specific task to perform. Each class is reliant upon the other for the continued survival of the entire termite colony. The five different termite social classes include: the king, the queen, soldiers, workers, and what is called the winged reproductive which are young kings and queens dedicated to reproducing.

Most  often the first signs of termites a homeowner sees is the reproductive swarmers, these are the one with wings. Recognized by a small, dark brown 2 segmented body and 2 pairs of equal translucent wings that tend to shed during swarming. These swarms tend to be in large numbers and occur in early spring (late March – late April). The swarm generally only occurs once, so most people think the problem simply just went away. This is the furthest from the truth!

If termites swarmed, this usually means the colony has been in existence for 3-5 years, and is finally mature enough to develop swarmers and branch out. Do not ignore these signs!

If you suspect you might have termites, it is highly recommended you contact a Pest Professional licensed in the control of termites. All County offers free evaluations of you home and can discuss the process and provide you with an estimate for control.

With the queen termite’s ability to lay 2000 eggs a day for 25 years, it’s a necessity for a pest control professional to eliminate this destructive pest before she, and the rest of her colony, create extensive property damage. Termites cause more damage to homes than fires and storms combined, yet termite damage is not covered by homeowner policies. That’s why requesting a free termite inspection is so important.

All County offers multiple termite treatment options:

Conventional Liquid Applications: Some infestations require a more aggressive approach. All County is able to perform sub-soil liquid applications by trenching & roding soil along foundations, drilling & injection of on-slab structures, and drilling & injecting hollow block foundations.

Wood Treatment & Void Applications: When termites are aggressively attacking the wooden members of your structure, All County can offer drilling & injection of foam inside wall voids as well as damaged timbers. All County also offers exposed wood applications using a Bora-Care solution to further protect your home.

Termite Baiting Systems (TBS): The best way to monitor and to control the entire termite colony is with the installation of the Advance Termite Baiting System. This process can take more time to be effective, but there is no risk to your family or the environment. The Advance System is one of the only systems that allows multiple treatment techniques to be utilized. This gives All County the opportunity to choose the best treatment method for your individual problem.
